India Cancels Bangladesh Tour | Asia Cup 2025 Called Off
India is scheduled to visit Bangladesh in August to play three ODIs and a T20I. However, due to the changing circumstances, the tour of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli may be postponed. The Asia Cup scheduled for September may also be postponed.
The Times of India reported that the BCCI has taken a negative stance on the Bangladesh tour and the Asia Cup. The remaining matches of the postponed IPL may be organized at that time.
The 18th edition of the IPL has been postponed today due to the counter-attacks between India and Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India said that the suspension is for a week. However, the possibility of starting the franchise T20 tournament soon is slim. The cricketers are uneasy over the timing of the Punjab-Delhi match in Dharamsala on Thursday night.
India launched a missile attack on Pakistan on Tuesday night in response to the attack by gunmen in Indian-controlled Kashmir last month. Amidst fears that Pakistan may take retaliatory measures, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals will play an IPL match in Dharamsala on Thursday.
The floodlights of the stadium were switched off midway through the match. Later, it was reported that the match was called off due to security reasons. According to Indian media, Pakistan carried out several attacks on India's western border at the same time.
According to the Times of India, the players of Punjab and Delhi were in a state of shock after the sudden stoppage of play in Dharamsala. They left Dharamsala this morning. In such a situation, the remaining 16 matches of the IPL this season may be postponed by a few months.
According to the schedule, the IPL is supposed to end this month. After that, the Indian cricket team will leave for England in the first week of June. After playing a five-Test series there, India's next tour was to Bangladesh. Now, if we want to find time to organize the remaining matches of the IPL, we will have to pay attention to the Bangladesh tour during that time.
The Times of India says that even if the rest of the IPL is completed before India's tour of Bangladesh and the Asia Cup, there is a high possibility that the tour and the Asia Cup will be canceled. The BCCI will not show any flexibility in this position, sources told The Times of India.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) aim at the moment is to keep all the players and support staff safe and free from panic, especially after the incident in Dharamsala on Thursday night.
