Sri Lanka 241 (49.3) Afghanistan 242/3 (45.2)

Just one win from two previous World Cups for Afghanistan, and they now have 3 from 6 matches. If they win 2 of their remaining 3, they have a good chance of reaching the semi-finals. For many years, it was their bowling that grabbed the headlines, but now it's their batting. A clear sign of a team that has worked really hard to cover all the bases. For all partner nations, Afghanistan's rise in international cricket should serve as a great catalyst to aspire and do great things on the world stage. The Netherlands will also have some good stories as you can guess. The World Cup, the story, but barely got interesting people. It's going to get tougher and tougher for the bottom dwellers. Pakistan take on Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens tomorrow and a losing side could move closer to the exit door. Remember to tune in for that. Hope you have great fun following this game. Until next time, cheers and goodbyes from Raju Pithala, Pradeep Krishnamurthy, Abhinav Guha and Harish V.

Hashmatullah Shahidi Afghanistan captain: Very happy and proud of the team. Happy with the way we performed in all 3 categories. The last match gave us a lot of confidence and belief that we can chase any kind of target. It was a very professional performance from today's bowlers. All the coaching and managing staff are working hard and giving us confidence. Especially Jonathan (Trott) he is always positive, he said something to me before the Pakistan game and it changed my mindset a lot. As a captain you should lead from the front and that's what I'm trying to do, will try to maintain that for the rest of the tournament. Rashid Khan is a special player and the best player in the world. He (Rashid Khan) is a very energetic person and always keeps the team alive. I would like to congratulate all the Afghanistan fans and especially thank the Indian fans for coming out and supporting us.

Kusal Mendis Sri Lanka captain: We didn't do enough with the bat. 300 or maybe 280 would be enough, but not. The bowlers did well in the first 10 overs and the dew came in a bit and then it became a bit difficult for the spinners to bowl. Actually it was dewy today and the ball came into the bat nicely in the second innings. He (Madushanka) has done really well, even in the first few matches and hopefully he will continue his form going forward.
