Bangladesh team's tour of Pakistan not postponed for now Latest Update

India launched missile attacks on six places in Pakistan last night. In response, Pakistan demanded that five Indian warplanes be shot down. Today, the country's National Security Committee meeting gave full approval to the Pakistani armed forces to take countermeasures against India at their own discretion.

But did the war between the two countries end? The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is also waiting for a clear understanding in this regard. The Bangladesh team is scheduled to go to the United Arab Emirates on May 14 to play two T20Is with the Emirates. From there, they are scheduled to go to Pakistan to play a five-match T20 series in Lahore and Faisalabad. But in the current war situation, the question of whether the  bangladesh cricket board bcb will send a team to Pakistan or not has become a big one.

BCB President Farooq Ahmed and three or four other directors sat in an emergency meeting at the board office in Mirpur this evening regarding this. However, no decision was taken in the meeting to postpone the Pakistan tour right away. The BCB wants to observe the situation for a few more days.

Sources said that the BCB is currently viewing India's attack on Pakistan as a 'sole' revenge for the killing of 26 tourists in Pahalgam by terrorists. They hope that it will not turn into a final war and that the situation will normalize before the Bangladesh team goes to Pakistan. In that case, the board believes that there will be no problem in going to Pakistan to play. However, if the situation is risky, the BCB may decide not to send the team to Pakistan.

If the team is not sent to Pakistan for the time being, whether the Emirates tour will take place or not is also a question. The schedule of this two-T20 series was made keeping in mind the Bangladesh team's Pakistan tour! The team will go to Pakistan via Dubai, so two matches can be played there on the way there - this was the idea. However, if the Pakistan tour does not take place, some believe that the series can be played at some later time without playing in Dubai during the scorching heat of May.

When asked about the BCB's latest position on the Pakistan tour, Farooq Ahmed told Prothom Alo on his mobile phone tonight, 'We will monitor the situation in Pakistan till May 10. Then we will sit again and take a final decision on sending the team to Pakistan.’ He also said that the BCB is in touch with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the matter.

The meeting also discussed the issue of two Bangladeshi cricketers Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana, who are currently in Pakistan to play in the PSL. Farooq Ahmed himself spoke to PSL CEO Salman Nasir about their safety, and also spoke to Rishad, who is playing for Lahore Qalandars, and Nahid Rana, who is playing for Peshawar Zalmi.

The BCB president said that both Rishad and Nahid have assured him that they are not facing any problems there so far. ‘Both have told me that they are fine and they are not facing any problems staying there so far,’ said Farooq. It is learnt that since no country’s board has yet withdrawn their players from the PSL, the BCB does not want to take such a decision unless the situation worsens.

In a statement today, the PCB said that despite the current situation, the PSL will continue as scheduled. The day after tomorrow, Rishad and Nahid Rana's teams will face each other in Rawalpindi. The losing team in this match could also be eliminated from the tournament. In that case, if they get a flight, one of the two can return home after the match.
