What did Tamim Iqbal say about the investigation committee report?
The country is in the midst of Eid holidays, and the cricket field is currently quiet. Tamim Iqbal has something to say to his fans and supporters and followers of Bangladesh cricket during this quiet time. The former Bangladesh captain made his remarks in a Facebook post today, focusing on an 'investigation committee report'.
However, he did not mention the name of the committee or the person on which the report was based. It is believed that Tamim was referring to the report of the committee formed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to review the failure of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
A recent media report said that in the investigation committee report, his teammate and Bangladesh captain for that World Cup, Shakib Al Hasan, had accused Tamim of leaking inside information to the media.
Shakib alleged that Tamim and the then chairman of the Cricket Governing Committee, Jalal Younis, had leaked the incident of Chandika Hathurusingha slapping Nasum Ahmed in the New Zealand match in the World Cup. The report mentions it this way, ‘The Chairman of Cricket Operations and Tamim Iqbal called Nasum regarding the allegation of ‘slapping’ him. They leaked the news to the media. They wanted to create such a scenario that the head coach’s job would go to waste.’
Tamim’s status is highlighted for the readers:
‘‘I will never shake hands with you!
I tell those people who are after me, who are trying to ruin my image to shake my hand, I will never shake hands with you.
If I ever come to cricket administration, I will come on the right path and only for the good of cricket. If necessary, I will never come to the cricket board, but I will not shake hands with you.
For those who are my fans and supporters and followers of Bangladesh cricket, I say that there is a huge difference between a person’s own opinion and being accused in an investigation report. A person expressed his personal opinion in the investigation committee. That is his business. That person has made various allegations against me on a TV channel before, and said various things at various times. I have never made any allegations against him publicly. I am just saying that no allegations were made against me in the investigation committee report and they did not ask me anything about leaking information. I was not in the party at that time! If the investigation committee felt the same way, they would have definitely raised the issue or asked me at least once!
I hope everyone can understand the huge gap between a person's own opinion and the allegations of the investigation committee.
I repeat to those who are presenting this matter differently with bad intentions, you will not find me in your ranks under any circumstances. I will not shake hands.
