Shakib Al Hasan Returns with PSL 2025 | Comeback After 6 Months

Shakib Al Hasan has not played in recognized cricket since November last year. He also went into hiding, leaving his cricket career in the dust. However, he will be seen playing cricket again after six months.

Today, Pakistan Super League team Lahore Qalandars announced in a social media message that Shakib will play for their team for the rest of the tournament. He will join the team in Islamabad on May 17. There is a match in Lahore the next day. The franchise said that Shakib Al Hasan has been included in the team as a replacement for Daryl Mitchell, who has an injured hand.

The official statement from Lahore sent to the Pakistani media also included Shakib's comments. The former Bangladesh team captain said, 'I am very happy to be joining the PSL for this season. We are at a crucial time in the tournament, where every match is counted. This is a tournament that I love to watch. Now I am looking forward to playing on the field. Qalandars have a great support group, team spirit. I am thrilled to be part of a team that wants a good result.’

According to BCB sources, Shakib Al Hasan applied for a no-objection certificate to the board last night to play in the PSL. He has not yet been officially given a no-objection certificate. However, the BCB has decided to give it to Shakib in principle.

Lahore Qalandars team director Samin Rana expressed his excitement about Shakib Al Hasan joining the team. In a statement, he said, ‘I am thrilled to have Shakib Al Hasan join the Lahore Qalandars family. His experience, skills and all-round ability are important additions to our team - especially at this crucial time of the tournament. His presence will increase the depth of our squad. I am confident that Shakib’s addition will have a strong impact on and off the field.’

Lahore are fourth in this year’s PSL with 9 points from 9 matches. The team has one more match left in the league stage. If they finish in the top four, Lahore will qualify for the playoffs.
Shakib Al Hasan has a rich experience in T20 cricket. The all-rounder has played 444 matches in this edition, scoring 7438 runs and taking 492 wickets. Shakib has also played for Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings in the PSL. He has played in all the major franchise leagues including the IPL.

Shakib Al Hasan last played a competitive match on November 30 last year for Bengal Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
