No runs in bat, Maxwell will not be in IPL this time

A big blow to Punjab Kings' IPL dreams. After Lockie Ferguson, the team lost another foreign player, Glenn Maxwell. An injury to the right finger has ruled out the Australian all-rounder from this year's IPL. The franchise confirmed this news today.

Punjab Kings today wrote on social media about Maxwell's exclusion, 'Glenn Maxwell's season is over due to a finger injury. We wish him a speedy recovery.'

Glenn Maxwell got injured before the rain-drenched Punjab-Kolkata match on April 26. This explosive batsman, who had a bad season, was out for 7 runs in that match while batting with the injury. This season, Maxwell has scored only 48 runs in six batting sessions in seven matches. 30 of the 48 runs were scored by Australia's World Cup-winning star in a single match. And Glenn Maxwell took 4 wickets with the ball.
Glenn Maxwell was unsuccessful with the bat in this IPL

Suryansh Shej played in place of Glenn Maxwell against Chennai Super Kings yesterday. Punjab, who have never won the IPL, rose to second place in the points table by winning the match by 4 wickets. With this victory, five-time champions Chennai are certain of being eliminated from the league stage.

Marcus Stoinis, another Australian all-rounder for Punjab, hinted that Glenn Maxwell could be out before the Chennai match tomorrow. The pace-bowling all-rounder told GeoStar, "Unfortunately, Maxi has broken his finger. The accident happened in practice just before the previous match. At first, he did not think it would be so bad. He had a scan done, the report of which was not good. I think Maxi's tournament is over.'

Punjab head coach Ricky Ponting said they are looking for a replacement for Glenn Maxwell , 'We may sign some new players in the future. Nothing will happen before the 12th match. Which means there are two more matches to go. We will play with the players who are currently in the team. Azmatullah Omarzai, Aaron Hardy and Xavier Bartlett are there.'

Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer also said yesterday that they have not yet thought about a replacement for Glenn Maxwell . Punjab has not even taken anyone as a replacement for Kiwi pacer Ferguson. Ferguson was dropped in early April.
