Will Mustafizur Rahman Earn ₹6 Crore in IPL 2025?

The press release issued by the IPL confirming the news also includes the amount of money. The left-arm pacer from Bangladesh is being brought to the Delhi team for Rs 6 crore.

But when Mustafizur Rahman gets called up for the IPL, there are only a few matches left. Delhi has 3 matches left in the league phase, which will increase if they reach the playoffs. The question is, even if the price of Rs 6 crore is final, will Mustafiz get the full amount for the last few matches?

Delhi has called Mustafizur Rahman up as a replacement player. Players can be replaced on or before the 12th league match in the IPL. In that case, there must be a reason for injury or illness. Delhi has taken Mustafizur Rahman in place of Jack Fraser-Magarque. However, this Australian does not have an injury or illness. Magarq, like other foreigners, left India when the IPL was suspended on May 9 amid the India-Pakistan counter-attacks.

Apart from this, it is not certain whether Australian pacer Mitchell Starc will return to India to play the rest of the IPL. That is why the authorities have given the franchises the opportunity to transfer players in this special situation.

The question is, will Mustafizur Rahman join the IPL at the last minute and get the full Rs 6 crore? In a word, the answer is: No. He will not get the full amount.

According to the rules of the IPL, if a player joins as a transfer in the middle of the season, his remuneration will be paid on a 'pro-rata' basis. That is, the total amount is divided based on the number of matches played in the entire season and only the remaining matches are paid in proportion to the remaining matches. In this case, it is not necessary to take the field. It is enough to be with the team.

If Mustafizur Rahman joins Delhi Capitals and the team plays three matches, then he will get the amount of Rs 6 crore in three matches. Whether he plays the match or not. If he plays the match, he will get the match fee separately.

According to clause 6.6 of the IPL rules, the fee of a replacement player cannot be more than the contract of the main player. And his fee will be deducted in proportion to the number of matches played before his joining (pro-rata basis).

The Fraser-Magerck, whom Mustafizur Rahman has been shown to have replaced, was bought by Delhi for Rs 9 crore. And following the rules, Mustafizur Rahman has been taken for Rs 6 crore. Now, if Delhi's matches are completed before joining, Mustafiz's money will decrease in that proportion.

Again, such a transfer is only for the relevant season. That is, if Delhi wants Mustafiz, it will not be able to retain him in the next season. Mustafiz will have to go to the auction again.
