New Zealand vs South Africa | Match 25 | ICC

Two teams at the opposite ends of the points table are all set to face each other. It's New Zealand vs South Africa at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The Black Caps have been invincible in this edition so far and are emerging as the team to beat. Their bowling has done amazingly well and it has been pleasantly backed up by their batting department.

They have discreetly gone on with their business and have been under the radar with the actual spotlight and the tag of favorites falling on the teams like England and India. A well-oiled unit, the Kiwis are capable of toppling any side. Unfortunately, their last assignment against India, another unbeaten team in this edition, was washed out,

otherwise, it could have given us a clearer picture on which team holds the aces. Things have not gone according to the plan for South Africa in this World Cup. Losing three matches on the bounce followed by a no result game has tossed them in the bottom half of the points table and now they find themselves in a must-win scenario.

The enormous victory against Afghanistan would have given them some confidence yet in New Zealand, they have a totally unique and stronger challenge waiting. Lungi Ngidi's arrival to fitness is a convenient boost for their bowling attack that has been entirely ordinary so far. Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir have done their best yet the rest of the bowlers have not delivered according to the demand. Their batting has also shown indifferent structure and the key batsmen need to step up with more consistency. In the H2H battle in this tournament, New Zealand hold a 5-2 advantage and in their last meeting,

the Black Caps knocked out the Proteas in the semis of the 2015 ICC World Cup. On current structure, the Kiwis will be the favorites again. Will they continue their unbeaten streak or will South Africa start their very own winning streak? We should wait and watch.
