Abysmal batting by England, AGAIN! 

New Test, same story! After the first match of the series, the English team has forgotten to bat. We know it was all about Joe Root then but there were a couple of other batsmen as well who rallied around their skipper. It was a good toss to win but the batting department once again flopped as a unit. Ben Stokes, Ollie Pope and Dan Lawrence offered some fight but light punches against a strong opponent won't help you much.

The speedster says that the wicket is good for batting so his plan was to bowl disciplined lines and lengths, and stay patient. Shares that Kohli told him that there are only two pacers, so the plan was to rotate them. Also adds that he switched to Ishant's end in the morning as it was offering more movement. Tells us that whether in Australia or here, he just wanted to put his all and bowl each ball with intention, as that will help the team apply pressure. On his altercation with Stokes, he just says that Stokes abused him at the start of that over, and hence, he spoke to Kohli, who handled the situation 

Indian dominance continues! 

The host team lost the toss on a beautiful looking pitch for batting. Joe Root had the luck with the coin but they didn't have much say with the bat. Nobody can blame the pitch this time around as not only the spinners but the Indian seamers also left their impact. Eventually, it was the spin pair of Ashwin and Axar to hunt down 7 wickets together. An expression of praise for Mohammed Siraj though who bowled his heart out, swung the ball both ways and picked the valued scalps of Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root. 

India passed the Jimmy test! 

A short period to negotiate for the host team and apart from losing Shubman Gill in the first finished, they batted with control and ended Day 1 in a good position. Rohit Sharma has looked settled while Cheteshwar Pujara tried to be positive with his fancy footwork. James Anderson bowled brilliantly and continuously asked questions from one end. Both the Indian batsmen showed respect and adopted a watchful approach to see him off safely. The English spinners bowled 5 overs together but didn't look threatening at all.
