Bangladesh Cricket Board has included Shoriful Islam in their 16-member crew for the opening Test of the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka, to begin from May 15. BCB had earlier said that he was likely to miss the primary game due to a surgery however are this moment confident he'll be fit on opportunity. "Shoriful had ankle injury in South Africa and he recovered from it," he said, adding that Taskin Ahmed's chance of making it into the crew looks very thin as he is as yet having some aggravation from his shoulder injury and will be traveling to England on May 6 to assess his condition.

Shakib Al Hasan, who miss the South Africa Tests and returned home after the ODIs, is expected to play in the long configuration after a long hole, after having missed the series in South Africa and New Zealand. Pace bowler Abu Jayed Rahi and Shadman Islam failed to make cut while pace bowler Rejaur Rahman, who is yet to make a debut, makes a comeback in the crew.

"We have kept Abu Jayed in the practice game. He is deficient with regards to a touch of pace thus we have not included for the Test series but rather we are hopeful that he will make a comeback sooner than later by removing all his deficiencies," BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz."Shadman is dropped largely due to his structure," he added.

Injury scare for Bangladesh

On the day that Bangladesh announced their crew, two of their stalwarts - Mehidy Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim - suffered little injuries while playing in the Dhaka Premier League. Mushfiqur twisted his left ankle while fielding in the deep, while Mehidy hurt his index finger while completing a catch - of Tamim Iqbal. Mushfiqur was given ice therapy and Mehidy was taken to the nearby emergency clinic.
