Cricket will get back to India in February one year from now when India play host to Britain. India are planned to play 4 Tests, 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs against Britain - as it was reported by the BCCI on Thursday. It will be a decent possibility for both the groups to become acclimated to the conditions in India, particularly with the T20 World Cup set to occur in India one year from now. Right then! That's all we have for you from Day 3's play! India are still far from avoiding the follow-on and they would require the stand between Ashwin and Sundar to continue and help his side avoid that. England however would want to make sure that they get the remaining wickets as fast as possible. Day 4 will begin on Monday, 8th February 2021 at 9.30 am IST. But as always, the build-up will begin much before that. Till then, cheers and take care.
England rode on Bess' bowling performance!
England are directly on top and they have Dom Bess to thank for it. He was simply superb and was rewarded with 4 wickets. Jofra Archer excessively bowled with pace and he started everything as he sent the Indian openers packing. James Anderson was off-shading while Jack Leach came back well after being punished by Pant and Pujara in his first couple of overs. They would trust that they can wrap up the Indian innings as fast as possible on Day 4.
India had a difficult stretch with the bat!
India didn't start off well with the bat at all, they lost Rohit Sharma early and then Shubman Gill, after playing some superb shots perished to Jofra Archer. Post-Lunch, they would have wanted Virat Kohli to play a decent thump but he fell immediately followed by Ajinkya Rahane. Then came the partnership between Pant and Pujara. They counterattacked and played magnificently in their partnership of 119. Pujara fell in one of the unluckiest dismissals after Tea while Pant kicked the bucket by the sword he chose to play this innings with - walking on a tight rope and throwing caution to the wind. Since then, Sundar and Ashwin have applied themselves well and have survived till Stumps. India still need 122 runs to avoid the follow-on however.
